Hello Berry Patch! I have a gorgeous manicure to share with you today. It is one part sponsored review, one part my own purchase. But after wearing the donated polish from Shimmer Polish, I can say with confidence that it’s a polish worth paying for. But here is my disclaimer: **Even though this product was sent to me free of charge with the intent for me to review it, I promise I am still giving you my honest opinion that would be the same as if I had purchased the product myself.** I would also like to point out that I was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest, but the picture didn’t link to anything or have a watermark – so I don’t know who to credit.
I started by applying Picture Polish’s Coral Reef, which is a lovely orange-y coral creme. It’s so bright and fun, I sometimes caught myself wondering if it might fit in the neon category. While the color is awesome, the formula definitely left me wanting. It’s opacity came at the cost of a thick and and sticky formula that I found pretty tricky to apply Luckily I only needed 2 coats for full coverage and it had an ok drying time. After a while I used some scotch tape to create a diagonal line, and then applied 3 coats (although I got a lot of glitter in just 1 coat) of the amazing Alice from Shimmer Polish (who I just interviewed last Wednesday!). Alice is packed with all kinds of silver glitter as well as some beautiful holographic hexes. This polish shimmers (hehe) like crazy, and I wish I could have captured it’s true beauty in one of my pictures. I am in love with this polish! And it actually applies well too – no fishing necessary (although, the Etsy description says there are stars in the bottle, but I didn’t get any on my nails). You can easily wear Alice on it’s own and have full coverage in 3 coats. And then to be extra fancy, I added some hearts on my thumb and ring fingers using a dotting tool.
To top off the awesomeness of this manicure, I am on day 7 of wearing it, and I only have one little chip on the side of one thumb and virtually no free edge wear! So both polishes get an A+ for longevity. I really loved almost everything about this manicure – except for that darn sticky formula for Coral Reef. I am not looking forward to removing this polish though, because I know it’s going to be a pain getting off the super dense Alice, even with the Foil Method. Cindy of Shimmer Polish was also nice enough to give me some other polishes (pictured below). And I could only bring myself to give one of them away to you guys.
