Julep Glenn & OPI Alpine Snow

Hello Berry Patch!  Today I am sharing my second Halloween themed manicure of October with you.  This is another really simple idea that any of you could replicate.  It’s also another idea I got from Pinterest, but once again, there was no link to the actual creator (sorry!).  I have always thought that fingerprints look really cool when you actually take a close look at them – they have such cool patterns.  And of course, when they are done in red, they make a great Halloween decoration, haha.

So I started by painting my nails with two coats of OPIs Alpine Snow – my go to white creme polish.  It gives pretty good opaque coverage, although I think it’s formula isn’t quite as good as a lot of other OPI polishes.  Then, after Alpine Snow had dried, I brought out Julep’s Glenn.  Glenn is a nice shimmery red that has some magenta tendencies.  I basically just painted a little bit on my thumb, did one print on a piece of paper (so it wouldn’t be so blobby on my nail) and then pressed my thumb right on to my nail. The thumbprints came out magnificently!  But to my surprise, I could only get one print on each nail – nail polish dries surprisingly fast on your skin.  And then, of course I sealed it all up with some nice and shiny Seche Vite top coat :)

I really love the end result of this manicure!  It was super easy, totally Halloween appropriate and looks really interesting.  I do slightly wish I would have picked a more “blood” red polish, like Big Apple Red or something, but that’s just me being picky.  And I think you could really create some cool looking abstract nails by using this technique with non-Halloween colors (hopefully I’ll get around to trying that some day).  Well, I hope you enjoyed this mani as much as I do and don’t forget to send in your Halloween manicures for my Halloween Nail Art Contest!
