Blogger Bio Series #8: Frugal Polish

Hello Berry Patch, and welcome to the eighth edition of the Blogger Bio Series!  Wow, I can’t believe I have already interviewed 8 amazing nail bloggers this year (nor can I believe it’s already September…what?!).  Today I present to you Alyssa of Frugal Polish.  As her blog name suggests, she is all about featuring the sometimes overlooked or less celebrated drugstore polishes.  She tries to use polishes that are $5 or less, which is definitely a niche I think needs to represented more – I know I am not one of the bloggers filling it, but that’s why I love featuring other bloggers :) Another cool thing about Frugal Polish is that she always collaborates a lot with other nail bloggers by featuring guest posts.   So her blog is another great site to get exposure to what other bloggers are doing.  And without further ado, here is her interview!
1.  First of all, what are you wearing on your toes and/or fingernails right now?
  • I’m wearing a gorgeous gradient mani! It reminds me of the sun.  Haha.
2.  Take us back to the beginning – how did you first start wearing nail polish consistently?
  • I first started wearing nail polish consistently when I was pretty young. Then I got sick of it (I know, crazy huh?) when I was a teen and just recently got back into it.
3.  How did you decide to start a nail polish blog?
  • Funny story, I was procrastinating on studying for finals, and I just made one on the spot. I never dreamed it would take off the way it did!
4.  How do your friends and family respond to the size your nail polish collection obviously has to be as a blogger?
  • My whole family thinks I am insane. My friends think that my collection is awesome, but that’s only because I let them borrow my polishes all the time!
5.  What is the funniest or most interesting way a stranger has reacted to one of your manicures?
  • I was shopping and the cashier just started gushing over how gorgeous my nails were. She even showed some of the other cashiers nearby. I was wearing Essie Shine of the Times at the time.
6.  What is your favorite nail polish trend, past or present?
  • I love the Gradient nails. I also love that the chrome polishes are in again.
7.  Do you have a polishing pet peeve you see other polishers doing?
  • The caviar mani. That is just not for me.

8.  Please give our readers your favorite nail care tip:
  • Always Always Always use a good base coat. That is one rule I swear by!

9.  If you were stranded on a deserted island and could on have 3 polishes with you, what would they be and why (color names and brands please)?
  • Oh dear, the hard one. Hits Hefesto, so I can stare at its shininess.  China Glaze – Ahoy, and Urban Outfitters – Sea Dust, which is an awesome dupe of Deborah Lippman’s Mermaids Dream
10. And finally, if you were asked to name a berry-colored polish, what would you call it?
  • Hmmmm…. Berry Sweet!

Well that was great!  First off, I have to say I love her Berry themed nail polish name.  I know it’s simple and cutesy, but I just love it!  And I definitely agree with her nail care tip – a base coat is so important, but I feel often overlooked by the casual polisher.  I want to make sure you know how to get to Alyssa’s great site, so you can go to frugalpolish.blogspot.com, check my Blogs tab or go to her Facebook page.  And as always, if you are a blogger who would like to participate or a fan who would like to see a particular blogger interviewed, please email me or comment on this post :)  {My email is listed in the info section of my Facebook page}.

Thanks for reading, I post every Sunday, Wednesday and occasionally on Fridays.  And please don’t forget to “like” my Facebook page www.facebook.com/BerryPolished for extra news!  I also have a Tumblr and a “nail ideas” board on Pinterest.com under the user name “berrybear”.
