Wow Berry Patch! Can you believe this already my 10th Blogger interview?! I am so glad that this series has been a success and that there are so many awesome nail bloggers out there willing to participate
So today I interviewed Kelly of Peace Love Lacquer for you. Her blog posts are always so enthusiastic – you can tell she really enjoys what she’s doing here. And she participates in lots of great blogger challenges, which allow her to create a lot of interesting manis, and she creates them often. And you will also get a nice mix of big brand and indie polish reviews. And since this is a Halloween post and Kelly is participating in a Halloween blogger challenge, she sent in a lot of awesome Halloween themed manis to include in this post! So make sure that you head over to her blog and check it out! With out further ado – here is her interview (I did not mean for that to rhyme, haha).
1. First of all, what are you wearing on your toes and/or fingernails right now?
- My toes have Zoya Kimber, and desperately need to be changed! Im currently rocking my spider mani featuring Zoya Eliza and 365 Days of Color Black Flame Candle
2. Take us back to the beginning – how did you first start wearing nail polish consistently?
- I’ve been painting my toes for AGES. I decided it wasn’t worth paying someone to do it, so I bought everything I needed to do basic doticures. It wasnt until I discovered fast drying top coats that I started doing my fingers. Now I’m naked without polish! It is very rare that I leave the house without it!
3. How did you decide to start a nail polish blog?
- My co-workers and family are the ones that talked me into blogging. My co-workers just wanted to see tutorials on how I did some of them and my family because they were sick of missing my cool manis if they didn’t see me when I was wearing it!
4. How do you friends and family respond to the size your nail polish collection obviously has to be as a blogger?
- Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, most of them haven’t never seen it! Hahaha! The few that have, are usually so shocked all they can say is “wow.” To which my hubby usually responds “yea, this is what I deal with.” lmao!
5. What is the funniest or most interesting way a stranger has reacted to one of your manicures?
- The usual reaction is asking how long it took. And usually some sort of “I would never have the patience for that.” My favorite reaction ever though, would probably be when I was waiting for a haircut. The nail tech walked by and immediately noticed my nails and sat and talked to me for 15 minutes about my nail care regimen. She was so sweet, and said that she wished more of her customers realized that a few minutes a day can really improve the look and health of your nails.
6. What is your favorite nail polish trend, past or present?
- Anything but crackle… does that count? haha… seriously though, the indie trend has been one of my favorites. My top indie makers would by 365 Days of Color, A-Englands, Whimsical Nail Polish by Pam and Maisie Shine. I love pretty much everything they put out!
7. Do you have a polishing pet peeve you see other polishers doing?
- Clean-up. Clean-up. Clean-up. Precision q-tips are your friend!
8. Please give our readers your favorite nail care tip:
- Always have a cuticle balm nearby. I literally have like 20. I am currently sitting at my desk looking at 2; plus I have at least one in my purse, on my coffee table, on my nightstand and by the sink in the kitchen and both my master and half-bath… Healthy cuticles mean healthy nails! Plus a 10 minute Olive Oil soak once or twice a week!
9. If you were stranded on a deserted island and could on have 3 polishes with you, what would they be and why (color names and brands please)?
- Ugh… 3?? That’s like asking me to pick which dog to save if the house is burning down! Haha… If I had a gun to my head and was FORCED to choose, I guess it would be my NerdLacquer Holy Grail, A-Englands Tristam and 365 Days of Color Boouk!
10. And finally, if you were asked to name a berry-colored polish, what would you call it?
- Rockin Raspberry
Yay! I loved reading her answers. I think it’s great that her family and friends were the ones that encouraged her to start blogging. And I can definitely relate to her hubby’s response to her nail polish collection, haha. I have to agree about the clean-up issue being a pet peeve…I mean I have had days where I just felt too tired to clean up right after…but if you are entering a contest or something, it might be worth the extra couple minutes to clean up that manicure
